Thank you for taking the time to learn more about Vitis Healthcare. For close to 20 years I have had the privilege of practicing medicine, encouraging others to be good stewards of the gift of health.
My formal training is in family practice and sports medicine, and I have spent the majority of my medical career in the traditional healthcare system. Several years ago I began to realize that the insurance-driven, traditional healthcare model is a disease model, not a health model, and is more concerned with making patients “less sick” rather than encouraging faithful stewardship. After years of caring for my patients amidst increasing regulations, time-constraints, and overall headache, I knew in my heart there was a better way to practice medicine.
In 2002 I founded Vitis Healthcare, a practice built on a new foundation where I sought to return to the roots of medicine as it was meant to be practiced. I chose not to accept insurance so as not to be limited in the care I provide. I structured my schedule to spend extended time with my patients. And I chose to focus on physiology, understanding that through evaluating the root issues, proper function could be restored.
I admit, it’s not an easy task to swim against the current of a healthcare system that has been ingrained in our culture for so many years. But I know it’s necessary. More than that, it’s essential. And I know what we’ve chosen to do at Vitis Healthcare is an essential step in the right direction.
Every time I walk into a consult room to meet with a patient I experience a new evidence of the positive results of our approach. I see patients with renewed hope. I listen to patients tell tales of medical professionals who won’t listen, and how grateful they are to have discovered our office. And ultimately, I witness patients acting, looking, and feeling better than they have in years.
It’s not some magic formula. It's not a quick fix. And we certainly don’t have all the answers. But I know we have the right heart, the right approach, and the right perspective. It begins with acknowledging that life is a gift, and that we have a responsibility to be good stewards of that gift. That’s what we do at Vitis. We help you become a better steward of your health. And it couldn’t be more of a joy to do so.
So I encourage you to experience what we live every day. I encourage you to discover what it means to try medicine again for the first time.
